About Me:
I hold a Master’s degree in Distance Education Teaching & Technology from University of Maryland UC, as well as a Master’s degree in Psychology from Walden University, where I am completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have worked with culturally diverse individuals on team projects in both face to face and virtual environments. I have experience working as a student mentor, tutor and counselor.
As a Clinical Psychology student at Walden University I have had the privilege to learn the core values of psychology in an immersive blended environment. From intensive online courses related to psychotherapy, interventions, and pharmacology to a rigorous one-year in Residence where students engaged faculty in a hands-on workshop environment. The in Residence year provided me with practiced knowledge of psychological interventions (CBT, Psychodynamic, Integrative), practicing good ethics in psychology, the art of psychopharmacology, as well as the administration and scoring of cognitive and personality assessments.
Writing Experience--It Gives Me Life!
Writing is more than a career for me it is a lifelong passion. Writing allows me to expand my knowledge repertoire, creating something entirely new, enticing, and rich. I am proficient in Academic Writing, being a full-time Doctoral student. My research skills are impeccable, and my APA formatting near perfect. While I enjoy writing academically, my true interests lie in fiction and creative writing.
Recently, I completed my Masters in Psychology from Walden University. I have had the opportunity, while at Walden, to explore social change and psychology topics. Research interests inspired by these topics include: Women's issues, Psychopharmacology (the art of prescribing, the risks/benefits, and mechanism of action of psychotropic medications), Social justice issues, Professional Ethics and the application thereof. My time at Walden (past/present) has been a life altering experience that will remain with me as I pursue my professional career in Clinical Psychology. While at Walden I have had even greater opportunity to perfect my writing and research skills, specifically medical & psychological research in learning and understanding terms/illnesses/medication/statistics/data.
I also hold a Master’s degree from University of Maryland UC specializing in distance education teaching & technology. I am an expert in virtual/distance education, having 10 years experience as a student plus classroom and curriculum design. Curriculum design encompassing: designing/proofing syllabi, organizing course work & material, providing direct support to students, and mentoring.
While I have extensive experience in non-fiction writing, I also enjoy creative fiction projects—short story, mystery & supernatural genres, and creative biographies. Pilfering ideas from the mind and heart, and spinning them into a web of words takes intuition, craftiness, and passion. I happen to possess all three of those skills. My writing style is clean, personal, direct, and can be as light-heartted or professional as needed.
